Chérie Framboise is a fruity, light and refreshing white beer of top fermentation that shines in a silky matte pink tone. Its flavor is also dominated by fruity and sweet touches of raspberry, which gives it a body full of lightness.

A recent addition to a sweet cherry beer brand that has been in existence for many years (though originally as Val de Sambre La Chérie), but with raspberry replacing the cherry. Colourless bottle with plastic covering, bought at the Delhaize supermarket of Merelbeke near Ghent. Inches thick, very foamy, plaster-like lacing, regularly shaped, pale pinkish-white head; misty glowing amber colour with cognac-ruddy tinge, looking about the same as the cherry version, at least the way I remember it from years ago. Aroma of raspberry ice cream, red candy, white bread crust, freshly ironed cloth, industrial raspberry jam, candyfloss, flour, hint tomato soup from a can. Very sweet onset, heaps of candyfloss-like white sugariness with an artificial, sweet and perfumey raspberry flavour, as in raspberry ice cream; lively carbonation but not too harsh, slender mouthfeel thickened by the sugar, but cloying from it as well; thinnish cereally and very slightly caramelly middle with soapy edges, straightforward and simple, and completely dominated by the sugar and the artificial raspberry aromas. A very flimsy and dim bitterish accent shows up in the finish, but the sticky red candy sugariness and raspberry perfume remain the main factor. Simplistic, sweet and artificial fruit-candy beer, as expected - not my thing at all, but apparently there is still an audience for this kind of 'beer lemonades'.

ABV 3.5%. Rood-amber van kleur, roze kraag. Aroma van frambozen, licht zuurtje. Smaak is echt overweldigend zoet, suiker en frambozenjam, mier- en mierzoet. Niet te doen.

Bottle thanks to Marleen. A bit hazy red color, small off-white head. Smell and taste ranja with bubbels says Eveline and I agree: sweetness, sugary, candy, artificial raspberries: yes it is ranja with carbonation. 6-4-6-3-13.

Directly from can. Nose: Raspberry jam, wheat malts. So is the taste. Too sweet. Light-bodied. Simple. No positive impression.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Albert Heijn Zaltbommel. Clear light rose with a white head. Raspberry aroma with some sweet malts. Taste is sweet with a sour touch. Weak short finish. Lemonade-like but not as refreshing.

Bottle at home. Hazy rose amber with massive fluffy head. Sweet maltsand old raspberry syrup. Pomegranate. Malt. Quite sweet and moderate bitter, very little fruit tartness left. Over medium slick malty body and mouthfeel, soft carbonation.

Bottle at home. Slight hazy dark pink with light dull pink head. Lots of cooked raspberries, light rosewater candy, a bit of sweet grains, soft coriander, pomegranate juice. Quite sweet, light herbal bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not crazy artificial, but a bit dull and syrupy instead of bright fresh fruits.
