ABV: 5.0%. Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, wood, earthy, light oat. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration, woody, earthy, dark malt, sweet malt, dark malt - chocolate, oat notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20200122]

Shared with Finn at ORB. Half-pint, cask ale. Jet black in the glass, steady beige head, spotty lacing. Inviting smell of bread and chocolate, roasted. Similar taste of dark bread and chocolate added by moments of dark fruits to the finish. Smooth on the swallow. Nice. (Darlington 29.01.2020)

Cask-conditioned at the Rook & Gaskill, York 22/12/2019. Near black in colour with a tight, beige, head. Big chocolate character, some dark fruit sweetness, a touch of porridge creaminess leading to a toasty finish. A good stout.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 21 Nov 2018) Dark brown colour, almost black, with foamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, roasted malt and dark bread. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, roasted malt, dark bread, coffee and a mild cacao bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Black with an off-white creamy head. Plum dominates its dark maltiness and is sweet tasting for it. Hardy any roasted malts are evident.
