St Austell’s most legendary ale! Hicks is fullbodied strong and Cornish, brimming with a kaleidoscope of flavours.
Brewed with plenty of malt and lashings of English Fuggles and Golding hops, Hicks is truly a classic ale of considerable depth and complexity. The real ale alternative to a well rounded premium red wine and simply superb with steaks and other red meat dishes.

Bottle from Purely Cornish. Appearance - copper with a slightly off-white head. Nose - fruit loaf with malty edge. Taste - raisins, orange peel, brown bread. Palate - crunchy texture, medium bodied. Toasty bitterness on the finish. Overall - like this. Good traditional ale.

500 ml bottle conditioned, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.0%. Clear copper colour, moderate to small off-white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel and malts, hints of dark berries. Malty flavour, notes of caramel and burnt toast, alcohol is evident. A slight sweetness, hints of dark berries again. Moderate bitterness in the finish.

500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet City Nord. Filmy layer leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Next to clear brown-reddish body. Malt-fruity aromas, mid-sweet. Blended taste character of caramel, dried fruits and a backdrop of resinous hops. Fine depth. Pleasant, a bit sweet though.(Shared with friends, Bodø Panorama 02.03.2019).
