I quite like this one. Good drinkability on this one. Roast and light smoke. Black pour with mocha head and lacing. Some bitterness in finish. Light caramel and chocolate. Bottle from franklins store.

33cl bottle. Pours a very dark brown, with a fine-grained espresso head with decent retention. Visible carbonation. Smells of licorice, smoke, caramel, roasted malts and fudge. The taste is bitter-sweet and smoke heavy, with notes of dark chocolate, bitter cherries, licorice, caramel fudge, espresso and smoked sausage. Medium body, not too thick, with a soft carbonation and a smokey, bitter aftertaste.

Tap. Pours clear black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is heavy licorice, raisin, cookie dough. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, mega licorice, raisins, burnt malt, not really smoky. Lingering bitterness and acidity. Medium to light body. Harsh. Not my thing.

0.355 l bottle from ’Slijterij ’t Fust’ (Hoorn), best before December 2016. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, stable, brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty, a little smoky aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, some bacon and hints of dark ripe fruits. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and minimally smoky taste of chocolate, cocoa, some coffee, dark ripe fruits, lots of caramel and hints of bacon, followed by medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly warming-alcoholic and yeasty finish. Medium to full body, thick and creamy mouthfeel, flat. Moreish stuff, the Belgian character definitely appears, could be more on the smoky side for my liking though. Tastes rather harsh when the sediment is poured into the beer, never experienced such a discrepancy before.

12 ounce bottle. Opaque black color. Dense large tan head. Faint smoked malt nose. Smoked malt flavor has intense bittersweet cocoa and licorice notes. Some tangy yeasty notes. Syrupy, chewy mouthfeel. Smoked malts reappear in finish.
