September 2017: Geiranger Helvetesgjølet Quadrupel, 2017 vintage, 330 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%, 24 IBU. Malts are pale, pilsener, carapils, special X, Munich and Victory, also kandij syrup. Hop is Magnum. Yeast is Belgian Abbey Ale II. Deep reddish brown colour, small beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel and kandij sugar syrup, hints of chocolate and dark dried fruits. The flavour is medium sweet and malty, notes of kandij sugar and caramel, hints of dark dried fruits, chocolate and oak, some alcohol, moderate bittering hops. Warming mouthfeel.

--Bottled, from Vinmonopolet Aker Brygge, Oslo. -- Hazy copper colour, small head. Generous aroma of marzipan and toast. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Marzipan, dates, brown sugar and rye bread. Peppery warming finish with long bitterness.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Hazy red brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, dried fruit and yeasty. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. 130223

Bottled (from Vinmonopolet Kirkenes). Ruby colour, minor head. Aroma is ripe fruits, some toffee, spices, alcohol and a bit banana as well. Flavour is alcohol, ripe fruits, spices, some yeast and mild toffee to it. Quite a bodied and tasty brew. Has a rather storng bananaish edge to it.

Well stored bottle. Clear deep amber body under a lacing, moderate sized tan head. Aroma of sweetish malt, dry fruit, raisins and warming alcohol. Taste is very sweet and alcoholic, dry fruit and malt syrup. Full bodied with sweet and alcoholic aftertaste. Works as a sipper in the start, but ends up way too sweet and alcoholic for me.
