Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark brown colour with a light beige head. Aroma of dried fruit, heather, rye bread, coffee, spices and fudge. Malty flavour of bread, dried fruit, brown sugar and pine. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and a light to medium bitterness. A malty and nice ale.

500ml bottle, L 179, from Vinmonopolet Bestillingsutvalget. Firm, bubbly, fawn-coloured head. Spotty lacing. Deep rosewood coloured body. Yuletide spices on the nose, moments of dried fruits. Spiced malt-fruity flavours, moments of earthy malts and raisin. Malt-driven ending. Smooth. Fits the Yuletide season. (Rating session at Finn’s, Tromsø 18.05.2017).

500 ml bottle sampled in May. Clear dark brown, almost black body with a nice, big, creamy tan head. Aroma of dark malt, pine and Christmas spices like cloves. Flavor has sweet, dark malt, spices like cloves, cardamom and cinnamon with some kind of harsh bitterness. The spice flavor feels a bit weak and old, even if it’s five months after Christmas. Based on previous ratings, I believe the spice flavor was a lot better than this in December, but seems this is still way within the best before date that’s not too impressive.
