(Can 50 cl) Clear, amber golden with an off-white head. The aroma has vague - very vague - hints of caramel and berries. The body is thin and malty - lightly malty - perhaps with a touch of spices. Dry finish basically without bitterness. Drinking this you’re guaranteed a sad, sad Christmas. 281206

500 ml can. Nice clear brown/dark red body with a descent beige head. Sweet, malty aroma with some caramel. Flavor is also rather sweet with some caramel. Low bitterness. Short aftertaste. All in all not the worst class D Christmas beer, specially with the offending smrprty rubbish in mind. Normally I prefer to tread this kind of beer as a lager instead of a Christmas beer. Not such a bad beer then.

500 ml can. Another beer from Mack for the target group teenagers+ (who are presumed not to be able to drink beers with traceable hops), but this time they have decided to make a beer that (at least) LOOKS like a normal Christmas beer. And unlike their "smrprty" beer, this one even has a bit of aroma and flavour (but not much hops, of course ...). Amber colour, huge head which lasts a while. Weak aroma, some caramel sweetness and Christmas cookies. Soft and thin/watery mouthfeel, some malty sweetness with hints of caramel and Christmas cookies. Hardly any bitterness at all. Not offensive, but very boring!

Huge fine-laced offwhite head over beautiful reddish brown body with some carbonation. Soft caramelly malt aroma with notes of cinnamon and, very faintly, pine needles. Taste is watery roasty caramel with soft pine needle hops and some acidity. Aftertaste is roastiness with some hints of cardboard at the end. A peppery dryness in the mouth lingers. This is a bit thin, but definitely decent, despite the silly marketing. (0.5l can.)

Can. A fancy-looking can gives the impression that it is the design that is intended to sell the beer, not the content. It pours clear, dark golden, with a beige head. Weak aroma with caramel and malt. It reminds me the most of the smell of a brown pub in the morning. It is quite thin-bodied and weak-flavored, with caramel, malt and some hops. The finish is caramel and hops, and it leaves a bit sticky sensation in your mouth. (061107)

Can 0,5l. Dark golden coloured. A medium sized tanned head. Sweet malty aroma. Shortlived flavour with fruity hints. An unusual dry bitter aftertaste with fruity notes. Too watery for a christmas beer but one of the better canned beers.

The Mack Brewery’s own pub, Ølhallen (the Beer Hall) in Tromsø, was packed last Friday (27.10.2006) when the brewery launched their xmas beers. It is always a great, yearly happing in Tromsø when Mack invites people from the local bars, restaurants, supermarkets and other business partners to have the first taste of xmas. This year Mack presents three seasonal beers of which Xmasprty is the new one, not brewed before. With the modern and fancy design of the cans, this beer is intended for a wider market of young people.
I had two 500ml cans, one at the pub and one at home in a proper glass to the get colour and foam right. The can pours a real nice deep brown red-tinged body under a huge, off-white foam that mostly fades away after a while. Red malts used in the brewing process gives the beer a fruity aroma and flavour. Has got a quite well balanced smell of citrus and roasted barley. Dark fruits and berries come through in the flavour with some hints of wheat and a tiny touch of caramel. Not more than thin to moderate mouthfeel, a bit watery and high carbonation. Alright, but does not give me that xmas feeling.

A nut-brown beer with a light brown head. The aroma is of berries and caramel, while the flavor is malty in a sour way combined with light notes of caramel and a dry finish. And the body is thin opposite what the can says.
