A Founders take on a classic style, brewed with a generous amount of flaked oats, chocolate malt, roasted barley and a healthy helping of Nugget hops, Founders Oatmeal Stout is nitrogen-infused to give it an extra smooth and creamy mouthfeel. An attractive cascade effect gives this beer its forthright visual appeal—and the body and clean flavor delivers on that initial promise.

Draught at the Gallows, 2/6/16.
Nitrogenated pour shows a typical large, beige head with strong retention atop a deep ebony body of indeterminable clarity.
Light milk chocolate, dusty cocoa, earthy/crunchy roasted coffee notes and very soft vanilla all give a very standard interpretation of the style. As per nitrogen, not a ton of aroma, but what’s there is dark and roasty, so you get the idea.
Wet, loose, somewhat creamy mouthfeel at times with a very drinkable, dry, well-attenuated body. Cocoa, coffee, light vanilla and a touch of cream and honey all end with dark chocolate and more earthy, dry roast. Love the abv on it and could easily drink this stuff all day.

(Keg at St. Urho’s Pub Portteri- ja Stout-päivät 2016) The beer poured clear and nearly black. Its head wad medium sized, dense and nearly white. Aroma had burnt malts and coffee. Palate was medium bodied and soft with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, coffee, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, watery and bitter. A nice but too thin brew.

Draught @ St. Urho?s Pub, Helsinki. Pours pitch black with a thick foamy white head. Aroma of sweetish roastiness, milky notes, hints of coffee and milk chocolate. Taste is super smooth, slick and slightly watery with hints of roastiness, milky notes, chocolate, coffee and cocoa. Finish is slick, smooth and slightly lactic with some roastiness, coffee and chocolate. Smooth but quite light bodied milky stout. Easy going but still pretty tasty.

Draft: Bakers’ chocolate and medium roast coffee nose. Black, medium tan head, cascading carbonation, good lacing. Soil with very subtle moss and coffee notes. Creamy, but a tad astringent. Founders does nitrogenated beers very well, perhaps the best in the US. This beer would not be nearly as good on CO2.
