This ground-breaking style combines the essential ingredients and hopping methods used to create a world-class I.P.A. Then using our expert lagering techniques and house lager yeast we created an instant favorite among the existing and steadily growing number of “hop-heads” and craft “lager-heads” in the beer world today. Gulo Gulo I.P.L. is hopped with Cascade, Chinook, Columbus, Warrior and Pilgrim hops. It is dry-hopped once in the fermenter and then a second time with whole-cone Cascade hops before packaging.

Slightly hazy amber coloured body with a copper glow and a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of light grass, malt, earth and a good deal of light grassy and citrus hops alongside some toffee and caramelisd sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive hop flavours up front of grass, pine and herbs, all with a nice malt backbone with some noticeable lager yeast and a dry finish. Aftertaste shows a bit of earth, some strong floral elements, toffee, sugars and quite a bit of residual hoppiness and bitter flavours. Overall, a nice Lager with a ton of hoppiness and a good robust beer that would be good for any style, but also full of flavour. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$2,19 sampled at home in Washington on 25-January-2017.

On tap. It’s a lightly hazy dark golden beer topped by a small off-white head. The aroma is peachy and tropical fruity, with hints of pale malts in the back. It has a soft bitterness on the palate, it’s full bodied and softly carbonated, with a light malty touch as a backdrop for the fruity hops. Lasting fruity and light bitter finish. Quite nice this one. Easy drinkable and tasteful. 150615

Bottle - Light citrus and pale malts. Clear gold orange with a small white head. Light sweetness and citrus. Not bad, but there are much better in this style.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy bright orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with bright citrus/earthy hop notes with moderate malt sweetness; and good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of bright citrus/floral hops with moderate bready malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Imperial Pilsner. All around nice complexity of bright hop and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12 oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazed amber with an off-white head. Sweet citrusy honey and pale malt aroma. Floral and citrus flavor against a pilsener malt base. This is rather good.

On tap at the brewery. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipated completely. Aroma had a nice combination of citrus and pine with a slight earthy hay/grass backing. Flavor began with citrus but was might by a growing bitter pine to give the beer a bit of a bitter finish. There was a note of underlying hay through the flavor.
