Cask at the Golden Lion, Todmorden. Dark brown with an off-white head. Nice and chocolatey on the nose, with black coffee developing in the taste. However, as you drink more it gets a little thin with liquorice emerging. Not as good as first impressions suggested, but still pretty drinkable.

Third, cask ale at Victorian Craft Beer Café. A fawn-coloured head to a rosewood coloured body. Spotty lacing. Vague smell of dark dough, mid-sweet. Dark doughy flavours with hints of liquorice. Malt-driven ending, nicely roasted. Satisfying. (Halifax 03.07.2018).
