An all Mosaic hopped Double IPA. Dock Ellis made his no-no in the 70’s which is right where the IBU’s on this big malty ale are. Tropical and fruity, with a pleasant citrus aroma. Try not to have a no-no of your own!

12 oz can from the Northport taproom. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Pine, citrus, herbal hops in the aroma. Flavors of pine, herbal, floral, citrus hops, quite nice. Some maltiness and some low sweetness. Pretty nice.

Sample at the GR location. Clear copper-gold color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lace. Piney hop, tropical fruit and malt aroma. Medium to full body with flavors of resiny hops, tropical fruit and caramel malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Above average overall.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 1/17/2019. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange/juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn, pine, honey, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge mandarin orange/juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn, pine, honey, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange/juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, caramel, bread dough, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mildly increasing warmth of 8.9% after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding DIPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; dangerously smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mellowly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not aggressive. Amazing 100% Mosaic profile. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great balanced dark/bready malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on Midwest tasting style example.

On tap at Hopcat Detroit. Pours a clear earthy orange with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a combination of earthy dark pines and caramel with sweet grains supporting. Flavor has a good amount of caramel with dank pine, grass and sweet grains supporting.

Sample at Mitten. Clear darker golden with off white head. Lots of mango, passion fruit, papaya, orange juice and more tropical fruits. Resinous hops with quite some caramel, green leaves and ’stroopsoldaatjes’. Over medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied. Quite good.
