Keg at GI, Shoreditch. It pours clear deep mahogany brown with a small beige head. The aroma is festive spice, warming, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, donuts, leather, fruit cake and wood. The taste is dry, bitter, festive spice, toothy, woody, leather, vanilla, cinnamon, chai spice, cinnamon and some alcohol with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent stuff.

Keg at the London brewpub Shoreditch. A dark red brown coloured pour with a whispy light tan head. Aroma is nice dried fruits, rustic brown bread, red grape. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rounded brown malts, brown sugars, dried fruit, hint of orange rind, some cakey malts. Palate is semi sweet light airy carbonation. Authentic.

One-third pint on a sample tray, keg at Goose Island Shoreditch. Misty copper coloured body, filmy layer, spotty lacing. Mid-sweet caramel nose joined by dark fruits, inviting. Mixed taste profile of mid-sweet brown malts and dried fruits followed by subdued Belgian yeast strain towards the finish. Rounded mouth feel and fine bodied. Likable. (London 11.01.2019).

Keg at the brewpub - Shoreditch. Pours clear amber with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Quite tasty, true to style, nice Belgian yeast, candi sugar, toffee, rich semi-dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and massaging texture. Balanced finish, soft warmth, toasted brown bread, fruits, toffee. Excellent.
