A soft, hazy and hoppy Harvest IPA

For this soft and juicy IPA, we explore the intersection of Simcoe, Citra and the Australian hop, Galaxy. Through endless small-batch trials and a little luck, we discovered that this hop combination delivers bright waves of ripe pineapple and tropical gummies on the nose, layered with notes of juicy citrus and ripe passionfruit. It’s a hazy, hoppy harvest ale that’s so good you’ll wanna holler!

Bottle from JR's. I drank it righty from the bottlee, after all, its just another one of a billion IPA out there that all practically taste the same; hoppy bitter as all hell. Yea, I can see thru the bottle its simple hazy pale, like most hazy IPA. Smell of freshly cut christmas tree, probably the best thing about this. Taste is fricken what else: You know it, big fat terribly on style super bitter hops. One day I'll stop ticken these nasty nullie tasting IPA and all the other branches of IPA bastardized brews. The older I get, the less I can tolerate them. There was a time years ago when I thought my palate would mature enough to appreciate these terribly on style brews, but I guess I'll always be an adolescent rater. One shitty nasty bitchy bastard mouth coating bud rototilling style. There you have it. Like this style? Go fot it, you will not be disappointed.

12oz can. Orange golden pour, fast dissipating head. Malty aroma, hint of orange, caramel. Taste also features the odd caramel orange combo. Not working for me.

Pours hazy golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma of guava, melon, papaya. Taste has mild hop bite, soft melon notes, simcoe hops. Palate has soft hops, citrus and a little hint of resin. Good.

Super clear golden coloured body, on the light side of things with a very thick, four to five centimetre tall pure white, but very soapy head that fades moderately quickly. Aroma of fresh cut grass, light citrus, a lot of flowers, a dose of light resin and sugars and a touch of malt is noticeable as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong very grassy and floral notes dominate with a perfumey hop kick and a small amount of alpha acids and bitterness comes through, but there is not much malt or body here and no real unfinished sugars here. Aftertaste shows the nice grassy and floral hop bite with a lot of dry, perfumey and soft herbal characteristics and a very soft malt backbone which is noticeable, but quite light, mild and easy-drinking. Overall, a fairly nice 'older school' IPA that is relatively easy-drinking, but still showing some nice dry bitterness and a smooth hop profile that isn't juicy or fruity. Nice to sample and a good option for a relatively easy-to-drink IPA in and around Pennsylvania. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Columbia Pike), Virginia on 17-August-2020 for US$1,87 sampled at my house here in Washington on 27-August-2020
