Named in honour of the inquisitive and extremely “fursty” ferrets of the Gribble Inn, a celebrated golden brown ale, full of character.
At the heart of many a countryside village can be found an inn. A place where locals go to relax after a long day. At one such inn, rumour has it that inquisitive ferrets would sneak to the back door to cheekily sample the local brew. A sweet nutty palate, hoppy aroma and a hint of Seville oranges, give this tawny amber ale its distinctive personality. Recommended with smooth and creamy West Country Cheddar or indulgent pork pies and mustard.

A fairly pale brown, pale ale, with no real head, just a thin wispy covering, mostly making a collar around the glass. This clear 500ml bottle had a best before sometime in 2007, drank sometime in 2006 (December 27th actually). No strong aroma at first, but as the beer warmed up a sweetness arrived, giving toffee notes. Dryish taste, but nothing to get excited about, a bitter type taste really, no great hop flavours for me. Fizzy beer, not a true Pale Ale in aroma or taste, mothfeel weak also. Not a beer I will be rushing out for.

Deep golden colour with a white head. Floral hoppy and light caramel aroma. Mild sweet caramel flavour with a fresh hoppiness.

Bottle. Pours clear dark orange, with small white non-lasting head. Aroma is faint caramel with even more faint hints of yeast. Taste is medium bitter and light sour. Body is watery with good carbonation and it has a long bitter and dry finish with hints of licorice.

Medium, slightly yellowish head over clear copper-orange beer. Dry, grainy and definitely caramel; even hints at honey, whatever - sweet. Faraway hints at floral hops. Dry, typical UK hops flavour; despite the brewery-conditioning still pretty fine and convincing. Hops, floral again, more to the fore; caramel lurking in the background. More carbonated than expected from a British ale. Not really light bodied, slick. More than decent; Badgers are still best. Now imagine they would do away with the clear glass abomination, and stop pasteurizing this...

Clear amber color, small off-white head. Toffeish-fruity, English hoppy aroma. Light bodied, fizzy carbonation. Nutty, toffeish malty flavor with late bitterness. Typical English bottled bitter flavors in good and in bad.

Aroma Caramel malt, fruity, not much light-struck aroma.
Taste Caramel malt, light spicy earthy hops, hint of citrus, some fruit, some sweet toffee, gentle quite pleasant flavour.
Palate Soft carb, medium body, smooth. Finish - sweet malt and toffee.
Overall Quaffable beer, flavour quite good, OK.

Bottle at home in London. That blessed aroma of farts and skunk cabbage absolutely LEAPS from the bottle as soon as I pop the cap. Pours perfectly clear copper with a strong, rocky foam head. Aside from farts, the aroma also holds light bread and toasted sugar. Flavor is lightly sweet but highly crappy. There’s some doughy bread, tangy sugars, wet wood. This is just going downhill all too quickly. Light to medium in body with average, tingly carbonation. Pretty weak on the finish, mild toasted sugar, bread, faint grass and toasted leaves. That’s about it. I’m pretty generous with my rates of supermarket, pasteurised bitters, but this fella is really scraping the bottom.

Bottle. Amber pour, white head. Citrus and caramel aroma. Fruity- spicy flavours, has a strange sweet aftertaste which I’ve found with a few other Badger beers. Light, dry bitter finish.
