(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, brown head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with dark chocolate, cacao, strong black coffee, vanilla, a touch of smoke, treacle, raisins and rum. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with notes of cacao, chocolate truffles, oak wood, rum, raisins, dried figs, vanilla, sweet espresso, treacle and a balanced cacao bitterness in a warming finish. Mild chilli heat. Full body, quite sweet. Strong and powerful, still well balanced with a smooth rum character. Great beer!

Dense black without head. Aroma is caramel chocolate some cocoa nibs sweet vanilla and melasses also syrup. Taste is sweet dense vanilla chocolate with later light chili spice and syrup and a touch of raisin. Some wood and more raisin chocolate in the finish. Subtle but nice chili. Good.

375ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Dec 22. Thanks Simon for this heavy hitter. Pitch black pour with a dense beige head. Sweet nose. Taste is exceptionally sweet, unctious, oily with treacle, dark chocolate and dark fruits aplenty. Warming alcohol finish. Too sweet and rich for me.

37.5 cL bottle. Pours pitch black, off white head. Aroma is dark roasted malty. Mellow rum note. Smooth sweet and caramelish. Mellow and caramelish. Smooth overripe fruity. Mellow and smooth fruity far finish, Light alcohol warmth.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Pitch black, coarse brown head. Aroma of rum and madeira. Very sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Dates, raisins, madeira and rum. Caramel and brandy. Intensely boozy finish with a burning sensation.
