Bottle picked up from Buxton brewery webshop, Buxton, Derbyshire, UK. Had Kedgeree for tea tonight which was very nice, listening to Tom Ravenscroft and now Gideon Coe on 6Music Wednesday 18th November 2020. Pours dark brown edging towards black with with a tan head. Fudge, chocolate, boozy, yes it is a little boozy. Thick in the mouth, surprised at the abv, rich, chocolate, chocolate digestive biscuits, a stunning beer, cocoa powder, some creamy vanilla. This is great.

Bottle. Buxton online. Nearly black. Ring of dense, tan head. Nicely leggy, as you might expect at the hefty ABV. Nose has grated high cocoa chocolate. Vanilla pod. Booze. Old oak. Some notes of cherry and chocolate cake. Plenty of bourbon. Taste is super sweet, with a little dryness. Touch of savoury. Turns quite bitter as it goes along. Smooth mouthfeel. Feels a little thin and dry given what’s gone before. Fine carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. A beer of two halves.
