Love isn’t always handwritten notes and candy hearts. Sometimes, it’s a sinkhole full of skeletons and worn out platitudes, yet here you stand with your chin held high. Our latest member of the Hearted family, a Black IPA, holds no ire towards love lost, it thrives on it. Remember your ex, take a few sips, and then go back to enjoying your day. They’re someone else’s problem now anyway.

Pour is a black with a huge mocha head. Aroma is a decent roasted malt with some hop lingering in the backround. Flavor is more roasted malt with a little chocolate and hop. FInish leaves a lot of chocolate on the tongue. More malty than hoppy but the dark chocolate malt was really nice.

12oz bottle from the mix pack. Pretty much made the mix pack as the Cold IPA wasn't good and no one wants the lo-cal one in the mix pack in the first place. This one is really nice. Roasty, deep, rich malt tone with a minty bitter hop balance. True to style, nails it.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a light tan head. Piney, woody, roasty aroma with some citrus hop. Roasty, slightly smoky flavor, with some floral and pine hops and a bit of citrus hop. Not bad.

bottle from variety pack. Black Two Hearted Ale - little extra malt, still great pine notes. Nice

Bells goes and brings their A-game to the Black IPA. Lovely notes of espresso, roast, and unsweetened chocolate mix with heavy orange-grapefruit from the hops and sticky, resinous pine. Gorgeous pour adds to the allure. Damn nice beer. Give it its own sixer.

12 ounce bottle from Binny's Bloomington IL, 3/28/21. Near black, large frothy tan head, good retention. Aroma of caramel, roast, coffee, earthy hops. Taste is chocolate, roast, tropical and piney hops. Reminds me of donuts for some reason. Medium bodied, a touch on the sweet side, mild to moderate bitterness. Decent but was expecting more.

Bottle from Busch's. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that lingers. Great lacing. Fresh Two-Hearted hops (Centennial?) upon opening on the nose. As it warms more roasted coffee, cacao nib come out, but the grapefruity, citrus notes are still present in the background. Pine, citrus and faint roast on the finish. Very good Black Two Hearted.
