Golden Pride is a premium, superior-strength bottled ale.
Brewed to 8.5% ABV, it is equivalent in strength to Belgian Abbey beer or barley wine, and is designed to be consumed in smaller measures than the traditional pint.
Golden Pride is known for its rich malty flavours, good balance, and notes of orange oil, toasted grain and spicy fruitcake. The late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, labelled it 'the Cognac of beers'.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours a clear chestnut colour with a thinnish creamy beige head. Aromas of caramel, dry dark fruits, fruit cake and brown bread. Taste has more fruit cake, caramel, some notes of syrup, orange peel, marmalade, cherries and some warming alcohol. Pithy orange peel notes on the finish. Full body, fair amount of carbonation and very smooth oily mouthfeel. Rich and tasty.

Bottle. Supermarket purchase. Poured rich dark amber gold with a good size off-white head. Attractive pour. Aroma of caramel, malt, fruit cake, dark fruits, warming alcohol notes, touch of spice. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Quite full bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. One of my more favoured Fullers bottles outside of the imperials.

500ml bottle - Pours a clear dark amber colour with a good sized, mostly lasting, cream coloured head. The aroma is malty and fruity, sweet grainy malts, caramel and plums. A moderately sweet and malty taste, sweet malt loaf, caramel, orange and some dark fruit flavours with a warming bittersweet finish.

Bottle. Amber/copper with almost no head. Aroma of stone fruits, malts, honey and orange marmelade. Taste of malts, honey, plums, toffee, walnuts, caramel and orange marmelade. Some boozy warmth. Moderate but distinctive bitterness. Low to medium carbonation. Balanced. Lovely.
