This strong ale is brewed after midnight on the hottest day of the year by a man wearing black. Using generous amounts of Branthills spookily good malt and unsuspecting English hops, this is English ale at its very best. The devil's doorbell...dare you ring it?!

25/6/2022. Bottle from Real Ale Shop, Wells shared at the Gorzow GP beer share. Pours clear dark ruby brown with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of light roasted malt, dark chocolate, ash, fruits, treacle, smoke, liquorice. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Medium body, oily, soft carbonation. Looked great, and very nice overall.

21st July 2016 Cellar clean out session. Clear deep amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light, mildly dry and has modest fine carbonation. Fairly light malts for a 6.6% beer, not that sweet, some bitterish toffee. Ripe fruits and dried fruits. Mild floral bitterness. A little tangy cherry provides some interest. Light finish. Mild bitter linger. It’s all right but you I would expect a lot more of a 6.6% old ale.

Revisit. Smooth malts, a little creamy sweetness, soft caramel. Ripe fruits. Whisper of earthy chocolate come coffee on the back end. Little spice in the aftertaste. Hasn't matured like the one from 2016 but the overall impression is the same - that is should be doing more. Tastes like a somewhat watered down Pussy Jack from the same brewery.

Bottle, as "Festive Fifty". Clear, ruby red. Film of off white head. Raisins. Light toffee. Some chewy malt. Taste is woody dry. A little black treacle sweetness. Palate is fairly light and airy. Dry, and light bitter finish.
