Jammy and full-flavoured, yet still relatively light and refreshing, this red wine barrel-aged sour is impactful and fruit-forward rather than funky and complex. We racked a simple Pale Ale into French natural red wine barrels on top of the remaining lees and aged it for 12 months, during which time it was refermented on raspberries.

Bottle split at the Beau tastang @L6, thanks to Fergoose, 11/03/20. Hazed pinkish orange with a faded crimson cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is pissy pink berries, funk, damp straw, grape must. Taste comprises apple skin, funk, pissy red berries, tannins, light vinegar strokes, red berry balsams, sharp berry pucker. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced acidic rise. Decent well balanced sour.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Fergus. Pours unclear orange with a frothy, white head. Pretty nice, some pale wood, tart berries, mellow acidity. Light bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Quenching finish, more lemony acidity, oaky dryness, berry tartness. Sound, interesting.

Bottle picked picked up from Cloudwater Webshop and consumed in Frank, Lenggries Mountain Camping, Southern Bavaria Wednesday 25th December 2019 (Christmas Day!) whilst listening to 'Trentemoller - Lost' and cooking Turkey, Brie and Cranberry Wellington with Roasted Vegetables. Pours hazy light orange colour with a little white rim of bubbles. Like the other beer this is dry, and fuzzy, sour but lots of raspberries. Quite good, refreshing but very tart.
