Our 2020 brew of Export Original takes everything we have learnt over the last forty years and celebrates the unique, 1870s , London origins of Imperial Stouts.

The carefully crafted combination of roasted barley and Challenger hops results in a full-bodied and satisfyingly rich Imperial Stout, that pays testament to the pioneering brewers who first exported to the Baltics.

Best enjoyed slowly with good company and a roaring fire

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 24 Nov 2018) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with notes of black coffee, liquorice and cacao. Malty, vinous taste with sweet black coffee, sweet liquorice, cacao, raisins, prunes, dried fruit, hints of cinnamon and a balanced coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, quite sweet. On the sweet side, but really tasty and warming. Very nice.

Bottle picked up at the brewery and consumed at home Thursday 24th January 2019. Pours black with a beige head. At first I pick up a little dusty furniture, a nice softness (carbonation) and a touch of lactose which surprised me. The chocolate was noticeable and yet it's not too chocolatey. I am surprised by this, it's a good beer, I liked it but it is not in the same vein as a modern Impy Stout but I rather like it for that. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
