Munkholm Bayer har en nøttebrun farge. Aromaen er preget av nybakt grovbrød, høy, ristet malt og kjeks, med et hint av humle. Smaken er lett fyldig med en balansert bitterhet og full maltsmak.

Appearance: Clear nutty brown color with a fine off white head that leaves a nice lacing.
Aroma: Mild vort and mild fruity.
Palate: Light body. Slightly sweet and a mild bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Balanced and mild vort and some fruity notes.
Overall impression: Surprisingly nice non alcoholic beer. Not the usual bad power sweet vort stuff. Will not be the last time I drink this one. Sometimes you unfortunately have to drive.
Personal stats: Bottle from Varnaveien Mineralvann in Moss, Norway.

Biggish beige head doesn’t last long. Clear amber body with light carbonation. Milky rubbery aroma with chocolatey notes. Sweet-dryish taste of nothing very much, because for some reason it’s mostly obscured by the salty flavour. I guess some straw and caramel. Mid-bodied. Sort of mild mouthfeel. Dryish salty papery caramelly aftertaste with faint milky notes. Leaves a slightly bitter, papery finish. It could be worse, I guess. (0.5l can, Rimi Østre Strøm, Rælingen.)

0.5l can. This is a crystal clear nutty-brown one with a nice medium sized, kinda bubbly just off-white top. Loaded with wort on the nose. Sweet, malty, burned rye bread, a bit of dark caramel syrup and some stable. Not horrible, but it's not a particularly great aroma either. It's right below average on the carbonation and the mouthfeel is what it is. It's actually not bad tasting at all this, quite on the sweet side, but not bad. A soft dark caramel/honey tea flavor mixed in between all the wort and sawdust. Another alternative for the preggos that I actually can recommend - to a certain extend of course. 16.02.2013

As a non-alcoholic beer enthusiast I’m happy to see more of these beers getting launched. Of course I’m also thrilled to see new and exciting designs for the packaging, but even more enthusiastic regarding actually new beers and flavours. Saying that I have to admit I was a bit disappointed to taste this beer and find it almost identical with Munkholm Münchene that probably will disappear from the marked now. So what we have here is actually just an existing beer with some minor adjustments. Then again, there is a certain limit to what you can do within the limitations of making a relatively well-balanced non-alcoholic beer. Evaluating this beer without regard to whether it is a new beer or not, this is not a bad low alcohol beer. Then again I never expected this one to be a full bodied and rich beer where no one had the faintest idea of drinking non-alcoholic. This is clearly a different beer than the hundreds of down watered nonalcoholic pilsner lookalike versions on the marked. This is an attempt to create a non-alcoholic version of a Dunkel, but the problem is the same as for most non-alcoholic beers – without the alcohol, an important element is missing. Instead of a decent body you get something a bit too thin and sweet. The caramel flavor ending up tasting just like caramel essence instead of caramel malt. Served ice cold it works for the first sips, but half a liter is just too much for me. For a conclusion: this beer looks great, does not have much aroma, the flavor is a bit too sweet and sticky without having so much flavor at all. The body is thin and there is almost no aftertaste. But I appreciate the effort of creating a different type of non-alcoholic beer and even try to improve it. Served ice cold when really thirsty it’s totally OK for a few sips.

Can at Home. Despite being a non alcoholic beer, it has a nice brown color. Some roasted malt aromas and traces of bitterness. One of the best non alc beers I tried, but still...
