If you don’t know, it’s time you are informed, Scarlitos Way makes the best cookies (…sorry Mom 😬). After enjoying these immaculate treats while having a beer at our good friend’s Brassneck, we needed to bring them to New West, so we reached out to Scarlet and it’s easy to see why they are so good - the secret is ❤️…and miso. So after eating more than a few bakers dozens of these delectable cookies. we decided to capture their goodness in liquid form. We present to you June, an Imperial Pastry Porter.

16oz (thx, Phill!) @ home. Appearance: very dark copper with a huge lightly beige head, weird colour for a porter. Aroma: roasted malts, earthy, some chocolate, miso. Taste: bitter and sweet, with miso cookie notes, some a weird chocolate bitterness. Overall: it's ok, but a bit messy and harsh.

473mL can, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is full of dark cocoa, lactose, some roast, and earthiness. Flavour is semi-sweet, with cocoa, lactose, medium roast, and some candi sugar. On the sweet side and not overly complex, but it's pleasant.

Deep brown body with some very good beige foam. Heavy maltiness on the nose though thinned out by the carbonation. Flavour is bitter caramel, slight biscuit, more maltiness, milk chocolate. Nice chewy aftertaste, abv hidden. I like it but there's definitely room for improvement.

Deep brown with a decent beige head. Coffee and roast. Boozy dark roast with a long coffee like bitter finish. Sweet and sticky, but not really cohesive.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark brown colour, large tan head. Some dark bread, wet cereals, moderately sweet, cacao, light glue in the nose, light spice, the alcohol is evident but not boozy, some more chocolate in the finish, but also a bit swampy. Pleasant but with little complexity. Doesn't register as "pastry stout".
