Can poured into a snifter showing black center with coffee rims with no head. The nose shows burnt notes of coffee and roast malts. The palate is medium bodied and well carbonated. Flavors of strong coffee with moderate coffee tartness. Finish is a surprisingly lack of bitterness. Slight maltiness on the finish.

On tap at Other Half, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out bitter dry oats, and a little hops. Flavour is very hop-heavy with loads of roasted malt and oats. Wonderfully balanced, with a dry roasty finish. Fantastic stuff.

Sample at Upright Brew House. Brownish-black color with a medium creamy beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and hops. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, bittersweet chocolate and hops. The finish is roasty with coffee and malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

4oz at the brewery pours a murky black with some creamy tan head. Nose has a lot of roast, so classically stouty, chocolate, bread, some char, a little mushroom. Flavor is sticky with malt and a little licorice, some toast, a little marmite, some burnt root veg, a little lemon maybe, burnt caramel. Full bodied but really drinkable.

Tap at the Jeffrey free with sandwich. Deep dark pour rather thin beige head. Nose is milky chocolate and light molasses. Tastes of lactose milky chocolate, coffee grind, soy sauce, hints of pine and molasses. Creamy and light palate. Touch of hop bitterness.

A deep dark stout with a thick frothy creamy brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light chalky character, light coffee grind, light soy notes, nice. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate with coffee grind, nice vanilla notes, grassy hops, soy sauce, very nice. On tap at Ginger Man NYC.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is pretzel and dark chocolate. Taste is nicely bitter. Nice dark chocolate vobes in there. Great finish. Very tasty. Wonderful bitter aftertaste. Dank.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours black-brown with a big, frothy tan head. The nose holds moderate roast, milk chocolate, earth, lactose. Medium sweet flavor with decent roast, burnt toast, some earth, torched grass, coffee beans. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation and creamy texture. Finishes sweet with some tannic quality, dried fruits, black currants, cocoa, earth, burnt marshmallow. Pretty good. Perhaps a bit too oily. But good overall. (March 2015, score: 3.7)
Keg at The Experiment - Hackney. Fairly sweet but with loads of tasty chocolate. Damn tasty mocha, really. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation and velvety texture. Sweet, creamy chocolate finish. Lovely. (December 2018, score: 4.2)
