Dark brown from the bottle with visible floaters. Ahh.. back to Alsace beer. They do love the floaters! A thin, frothy head slowly settles. Aroma of campfire and burnt caramel. Taste has a roasted bittersweetness, with the emphasis more on the sweetness. Noticeable melon fruitiness at the finish. I’m at a bit of indecision as to whether these flavors really belong together. It’s not bad, but there is a bit of clash to it. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not bad overall

Sampled at THT April. Bit hazy dark brown with beige head. Strong smoked malts, dry malts, bacon, earthy, ash, a hint of fruit, dead leaves. Under medium sweet and medium bitter. Just medium bodied. Quite smoked, I don’t get much watermelon.
