Ale brewed with feijoas & aged in wine barrels. A beer that is developing cult like status in NZ and around the world due to its quality and scarcity. Feijoa is New Zealand’s second national fruit and this is surely a one of a kind beer! Be sure to savour the flavour.

500ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Salty, tart-ish, citrusy fruity aroma, notes of lime, lemon, lime zest, mouldy lime zest. Taste is tart, spicy, tangy, citrusy, zesty, salty, notes of lime, lemon, lime zest, a mouldy touch. Rather adstringent whilst initial sips, not the easiest drinkable beer on the planet.

Bottle. Little Leeds Beer House. Mostly clear, green tinged gold. Lots of bubble activity. Frothy, noisy, bright white head. Well I’m not at all familiar with feijoa fruit, but this smells of lime juice and pith. Some crushed white grape. Wood shavings. Bit of sweaty, cheesy funk. Taste is white wine vinegar sour and tart. Really quite dry. Feels enamel stripping tart in the mouth. High acidity. Dry and super tart finish. Ok, but finishing the 500ml bottle on my own got a bit hard work.

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub. Lightly hazy yellow color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste lightly sourish, very fruity. Very refreshing tropical fruit and superbly balanced. Decent to medium body and carbonation.

Grand tasting at Craft Islington with Hackobock. Thanks to Padraig. Hazy gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light and dry, decent fine carbonation. Dry sourness and a touch of that bitter nut thing that you sometimes get in sours and that I hate with a passion. Vinegar. Tart lemon into generic fruits. Too dry, too sour and nuts!

Taste comprises tarte fruit rinds, less acidic than the nose suggested, funk, barnyard, damp hay, barrel notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a tarte fruit rinse. Decent enough sour.
