Can from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Aroma is piney and fruity hops with citrus, mild roast and chocolate, dark malt, notes of tropical fruits, grapefruit. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Body is medium. I like my Black IPA a little more roasty but this is a fine effort.

Cab from the brewery online shop. Appearance - close to jet black with a big beige head. Nose - pine, molasses and light smoke. Taste - molasses, coffee, cola and smoke. Palate - medium bodied with roasty/smoky finish. Overall - was expecting a bit more fruit, but nonetheless enjoyable.

Keg at Steam Town Brew Co, Eastleigh. Musty leathery aroma and dose of pine. Dark and glossy with cola tints. Creamy light beige head. Not so much overtly bitter as a bitter edged herbal taste. The bitterness itself becomes more obvious into the finish. Hides the ABV well. Thick bodied. Slick which benefits from soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Lovely stuff. Funnily enough I don't think I was too impressed by the normal version of this on cask.

33cl can from drunken duck refettorio birraio, past bbd date of a month or so. Indeed quite blacky color, very dark brown with lots of particles, big cappuccino head, thick, lacing. Aroma is a smack of tangerine, big smell. Aroma is beefy, burnt malts and dark bitter chocolate powder, bangs into a wall. Hops counterpart is intense, on the exotic side, with lots of tangerine, mango, tropical fruits and orange/grapefruit. Quite insane alcohol level, manageable still quite burning. Taste is a bitterness breakdown, numbing, after an initial malty approach. Thick body, this is a slow sipper. Chakly thick texture. Intense experience indeed, wowowo.

Sample from 33 cl can. Pitch black with a thin tanned head. Fruity aroma with citrus fruits and roasted notes, chocolate and tropical impressions. Taste is bitter roasted. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and roasted bitter. Rich and hoppy. Nice.
