Ein besonderes schottisches Maischverfahren sowie der hohe Anteil dunkler Malze verleiht dem naturtrüben Ale seine kräftigen dunklen Malz- sowie feine Karamellnoten und eine fruchtige, dezente Süße. Zusätzlich bringen wir, entgegen der traditionellen Charakteristik der Scotch Ales, durch drei Hopfengaben englischen Fuggle kräutrige, leicht erdige Note ins Bier, die von einer gefälligen, aber deutlichen Bittere begleitet werden.

Amber pour with quickly diminishing head. Aroma of caramel and toffee with spice. Flavor is more caramel and spice, notes of vanilla.

Bottle, 6.4%. The aroma seems salty at first, then turns a bit fruity, but not much. Cloudy dark brown colour. Good big stable light brown head. The flavour is yeasty with some liquorice. Not as sweet and boozy as I expected - unfortunately. Has a faint sourish touch in the finish. A bit unclean, but OK, I guess.

Bottle to celebrate my 1st anniversary of joining RB. Pours cloudy dark copper brown with abundant and stable beige head. Clear aroma of caramel malt, fruit and alcohol. Sweet flavour of caramel malt with fruity notes and some bitter touches. Warming alcohol presence. Sweet-sourish finish. Good but not top quality.

Immer wenn man nich gleich etwas unangenehmes sagen will, nimmt man die Floskel: Man hat sich bemüht. Das passt hier auch ganz gut, wobei ich sicher bin dass man sicher einiges an Mühe in das Bier gesteckt hat. Es hat auch ordentlich Aroma: Trockenfrüchte, Schokolade, sogar etwas frischer Hopfen -aber irgendwie schafft es diese Kombi nicht, ein Top-Bier zu produzieren. Doch als höherwertiges Bier kann man es schon sehen.

Medium tan head. Hazy opaque black body goes deep dark brown at edges. Last bit added visible pale goop to the mix. Roasty raisiny aroma with caramelized sugar and fruit notes. Dry-sweet roasty earthy taste with burnt fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish peppery spicy earthy aftertaste with herbal fruity notes. Really unusual, but not entirely successful. (0.33l bottle, from Das Meisterstück, Berlin.)

Bottle, 6.4%. Clear dark amber/brown with medium tan head. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel, dark fruits and a little toffee. Flavour is malt, caramel, toffee, medium sweet, dark fruits, yeast, little phenols, little candy sugar and a little bitter.

Hazy dark amber with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, yeasty and candy sugar. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish with a little warming alcohol. 010512

Bottle shared with ClubGonzo. Deep, hazy dark brown colour. Leather is very dominant in the aroma along with sharp smell of glue. Sweeter in the mouth with also leather being present here. Hint of alcohol. Light bitterness. Watery and slick mouthfeel. An interesting taste experince, but not a bad one.
