Ein besonderes schottisches Maischverfahren sowie der hohe Anteil dunkler Malze verleiht dem naturtrüben Ale seine kräftigen dunklen Malz- sowie feine Karamellnoten und eine fruchtige, dezente Süße. Zusätzlich bringen wir, entgegen der traditionellen Charakteristik der Scotch Ales, durch drei Hopfengaben englischen Fuggle kräutrige, leicht erdige Note ins Bier, die von einer gefälligen, aber deutlichen Bittere begleitet werden.

Pours brown from the bottle and leaves a finger-thick, creamy head. The aroma is toffee, caramel. Taste is mildly sweet with light sour, fruity notes. A deliciously smooth, rich, creamy palate enlivens what otherwise might be a rather mundane experience. Overall quite good.

Draught. Frothy White good mostly deminishing head. Dark amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - dark amber verging brown pour with a off white beige covering. Sweet malty showcasing sweet notes of caramel, treacle, dried fruity notes, slight spice into the close.

Old rating, best before 11.2011. Great smooth and complex stuff. Vanilla, smooth dark malts with fruity cake, round and smooth. The bitterness is moderate, the sweetness is round and ok, the character is complex with a vanilla-fruit-cake finish. Great!

KØLF 281214. Red brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, fruit, licorice, dried fruits. Flavour is roasted malt, hop, coffee, caramel, fruit, licorice, dried fruit. Medium body. Ordinary beer.

Dunkle orangebraune Farbe, ordentliche beige Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, fruchtig, Karamell, Gewürze. Geschmack nach viel Karamell, Vanille, Schokolade, gutes Bier!

Bottle, 75cl. It pours an unclear body with a reddish brown color. A small, beige head sits on top. The aroma is lightly roasted, with a fruity touch. Some licorice and dried figs. Caramel hints. It’s full-bodied and semi-sweet on the palate, with a soft carbonation. Caramel, roasted malts, some smoked notes and fig notes. Lasting finish. Quite pleasant this one, easy drinkable too. Wouldn’t mind having this again. 141228

330 ml bottle, No. 1101, BB date 31.10.2013, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. ABV is 6.4%, hop is Fuggles. Hazy dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Strong sweetish aroma of caramel malts, hints of molasses. The sweet flavour is also dominated by caramel malts and molasses, while a slight fruity acidity helps the drinkability. Hardly any bitterness. Not a favourite of mine.
