The pandemic forces us to brew alone and a giant freeway divides North Burnaby from South, but nothing can break the bond between beer nerds.

We united virtually with our friends from across the freeway to celebrate Studio Brewing’s imminent opening by brewing this beer together apart.

Proximate Solitudes is a multigrain pale ale fermented with Belgian yeast and dry-hopped with French Strisselspalt and South African Southern Passion.

I have no idea if these two are the same, but since I never had the draft at Studio, just the Dageraad can, I assume it gets entered here. It's got a little haze to it, and a beigey sort of colour scheme. On the nose, that nice herbaceous, slightly floral note from strisselspalt and Dag yeast. Digging that. On the palate, medium bitterness, grass and lemon and florals. Again the yeast-strisselspalt interplay. Finishes fairly quick. I can definitely get behind this.

Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Perfumy citrus. Nice citrus, peel and a Perfumy note. Solid.

Poured from the tap. Hazy blonde with white head. Saison yeast with a multigrain bread crust character, mild spice. Dry and crisp. The multigrain character fits nicely.

On tap at Studio, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out a wonderful dry multigrain character, with rustic saison yeast and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bone dry, with a great multigrain character, dry rustic saison yeast, and crisp biscuity malt. Really like the yeast expression and the multigrain character. Really good.

Draught at the brewery
Hazy to cloudy blond colour. The aroma is a bit farty, it's highly carbonated, the mouthfeel is very dry, it's moderately spicy, the bitterness is bold for the style. Pretty good actually.

Foggy yellow body and good meringue foam. Nice funky lemony yeast on the nose, easy chalky grain. Flavour is lemony grain, soft chalk, mellow citrus. Dry and smooth, a little simple but certainly enjoyable. --- Beer merged from original tick of Proximate Solitudes on 13 Feb 2021 at 23:07 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. 6oz at Studio. Appearance: hasy blonde with a white head. Aroma: a bit sour, malty, some hops. Taste: tastes more like a mix of American and Belgian saisons. Overall: pretty nice.
