Black colour, compact beige head. Mild spicy aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, spicy, but it's aniseed, so not a top choice; burning alcohol, some dark malts, maybe some Belgian yeast action here and quite low sweetness, which doesn't help. Ok beer.

Bottle. Dark brown. Medium head. All kinds of dark fruits and toffee on the nose. Those dark sugars and deep esters are, well, they're classic and you just don't smell things like that in beer these days. On the palate, light carbonation but it ends up rich and frothy. This is fine for the palate because it helps the alcohol round out those sugars and esters. Raisins, grapes, dried apricots, molasses (or 7 year old rum), light spiciness. Dageraad doing what they do best - bringing Belgium to British Columbia. Big yes.

650mL bottle, pours a deep dark murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma brings out lots of dark fruits, raisins, and fairly subdued but cohesive Christmas spices. Flavour is malty, fruity and spicy, with lots of dark dried fruits, lots of Christmas spices, some fruity esters, and candi sugar. The alcohol is well-integrated. It's certainly sweet but not too much so. Very good.

Deep dark brown with a decent beige head. Dark raisin and dark sugars. Sweet dark raisin and touch of sugary boozy notes.

Has very nice bright beige foam and deep black body. Aroma's good deep sweet biscuit and some smooth dark caramel. Flavour is mellow caramel, soft chocolatey malt, it's smooth and sugary in an easy macro kind of way. A decent dark meld, ABV well hidden, though rather simple.
