85% sour ale aged in wine barrels with blackberries and cherries and 15% dark ale aged in bourbon barrels.

The Wanderer is a GABF silver medal-winning blend we originally concocted with our platypus loving friends in NorCal, featuring a wine barrel-aged sour ale with blackberries and cherries. We then folded a small portion of our bourbon barrel-aged anniversary ale into it for additional layers of oak, vanilla and toffee, accentuating the dark fruit notes and delightfully sour tinge. Whether it’s a trip down memory lane or your first experience with these flavors, we hope you enjoy the journey.

Bottled. 2017. Murky dark red body, off white head. Interesting aroma, berry notes, cherry more than blackberries I'd say, saliva, nice soft bourbon barrel touches. Soft, sweetish berry jam taste, I'd have guessed raspberries, but blueberries get more clear as it warms, but here I guess that the combo works, combo of fruity and lactic sourness, grating a little bit. Liked it more than I expected to, the entire balanced just worked well, and the fruity notes mixing with the funk worked well. Great job!
