ABV: 8.0%. Cloudy medium red - purple colour with a small to average, fizzy and open, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white - pink head. Aroma is barnyard, grapes - blue grapes, horse blanket, lather - funk, barrel, grape skin - citric. Flavor is moderate sweet and light acidic with a long duration, tart, grapes - blue grapes, funky, barnyard, barrel, medium dry to dry, grape skin. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20210723]

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Slightly hazy pale purple, brief pink head. Tart citric notes with barnyard and grape skin. Mildly citric with medium body and rounded, spritzy mouthfeel. Grass and barnyard, tart grapes. Mild grape skin bitterness. Elegant, but not lifting to stellar levels.

One of 3 Fonteinen’s fruit lambics of last year, a grape lambic made with Muscat grapes, shared at a bottle share at tderoeck’s place. Moussy, off-white, initially medium thick but quickly dissolving head on a misty purple-hued deep fuchsia-red beer. Aroma of sour grapes more than sweet Muscat grapes, red wine vinegar even, cherry skins, ultra-dry rosé wine, white yoghurt, lemon juice, stale sweat, wood sorrel, wild berries, sumac, rosehip, green garden weeds, wet wood. Tart onset, astringent sour grapes and sour berries (redcurrant), crisp lemony edges, minerally undertones; supple wheaty and bready core underlying a lot of juicy grape tartness offering some vaguely softening fleshiness towards the end too, but generally remaining sour much more than sweet, with grape skin and seed tannins as well as woodiness accentuating the dryness. The sheer volume of the grapes here and the juiciness this brings, keeps things interesting till the last drop, especially when light funky notes set in from the Brett playing around with the grapes, resulting in effects of grass silage, wet leather, sweat and green plant leaves. Complex as any top notch fruit lambic should be, clearly more tart and less ‘vinous’ or wine-like than the Dornfelder that came out almost simultaneously, with a somehow much more pronounced lambic effect.
