Chelmsford Winter Fest. Clear very dark brown beer. No head. Light semi dry palate. Light tangy sourness. Mild creamy dark malt offset by mildly sour fruit - orange, cherry, pear, apple and a little citrus - all well buried but pleasant.

Drank in ’The Bricklayers Arms’, Putney, London. Pint in May 2007: Looked good as it sat between a pint of lighter Landlord and a darker Dark Mild, the colour sits between the two as well. Sweet aroma and taste, caramel and hops, a little too sweet for me, but my wife loves it. The flavours don’t stay to long in the mouth, but it is still a treat to have one of these beers if you ever come across one.

Cask @ Town Hall Tavern, Leeds. Appearance - Black with creamy off white head. Aroma of roasted malt with some spicy hops. Taste of roast malt, sweet molasses, some burnt toast notes with a background of spicy hops. Tastes like a porter/stout version of Landlord. Very nice beer, easy drinking, smooth and creamy.

Cask: Very deep amber coloured, small lacy brownish head with pink spots; sweet caramel in the otherwise hoppy and fruity nose; relatively light bodied, smooth, robust bitter-sweet flavour; almost a tinge of molasses in the dryish lingering hoppy-fruity (dried fruits) finish. Fine characterful brew.........
