23/1/2021. Can shared at the first Ipswich Lockdown 3.0 virtual bottle share. From Hoptimaal online store. Pours like engine oil. Thick, black, no head. Lovely coffee, chocolate, ashy, vanilla aroma. Medium body, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium to full body, slick texture, average carbonation. Good stuff.

473ml can. Jet black colour with late awakening, very small, creamy, fading, tan head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of coffee, cold coffee, dark Belgian chocolate, mocha. Taste is roasty dark malty, boozy, notes of coffee, cold coffee, dark chocolate, sugared coffee, bitter roasty and bitter hoppy counterweight; warming, alcoholic finish. Extremely viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine and soft carbonation. Very nice, weill embedded coffee flavours, quite boozy overall - pretty decent.

0,473l can at gfs place bought from De Bierliefhebber. Canned 09/2020. black color, small very dark coffee colored head. smells coffee, earthy, bitter chocolate, spices, some cinnamon, nutty, lovely smell. full body, light carbonation, oily mouthfeel. tastes of coffee, lactose, spices, peppery, light sweetness, nutty, hazelnuts, light molasses, cinnamon. finishes bitter / sweet with notes of (milk) coffee, lactose and some nutty notes. very nice one, lovely coffee notes, compared to most other pastry stouts not very sweet, but overall still a tad too sweet for me, would like this better with some more roasty notes. overall none the less very good beer.

Pitch black pour with a tan head. Dark roasted cofee beans, brewed coffee, roasted malt, licorice, soy sauce, caramel. Definitely an improvement over the Engesa Oil base version.
