Dried currants were added at the end of the boil with Belgian candi syrup and black currant puree was then added post ferment to maintain its vivacity.
What's left is a medium bodied, malt forward ale with berry high notes, light tartness and pleasant fruity esters followed by cocoa and caramel tones to create a round, dry finish.

Poured from the tap. Reddish brown with small white head. Malt and black currant. That’s about it... disappointing. Not a good example of a dubbel.

Kind of a reddish brown thing going on with modest foam. Smells way too soft of malt and black currant, just not hitting that note adequately. Flavour is soft malt, vague zest notes, and way too watery. Yes the alcohol's well hidden but the flavour payoff just isn't there.

Amber-brown with a bit of haze. Not much head. On the palate, ti's got some of that blackcurrant, and the base dubbel is sweet and lightly sticky. It's okay, but the base and concept both are just okay and the concept, well, not for me.
