Farmhouse Ale w/Bitter Orange and Gentian Root: This ale drinks crisp and clean, with fresh orange notes leading to moderate, balanced bitterness that’s perched on a bed of loamy topsoil in a citrus grove.

Bottle from the brewery. Dull colour. Not appetizing. Just a little bit of head. Funny nose, too, like oxidized or something. On the palate, it's muddled. There is a bright orange character, maybe the gentian root. But it's quite sweet, sticky, with a plasticy undertone that speaks to fermentation that didn't quite flow. Yeah, this just seems like beer that missed the mark, because it doesn't taste like it's written up, and it's written up as a good beer. S&O doesn't miss often these days, so it's too bad I paid for this.

Good medium gold and some modest foam. Very soft orange on the nose, honestly too faint. Flavour is soft orange, vague citrus and grain notes. A little too wet but the flavour isn't bad, a little subdued.
