This Double IPA was created for Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2019, and is intended as a celebration of a style and flavour profile we've become synonymous with. Following in the footsteps first laid by our much-loved V series, it's juicy, soft and smooth yet still full-flavoured, bold and bright. To provide full impact, we led with the punchy and distinctive New Zealand hop varietal Nelson Sauvin.

Aroma & Flavour: Powerful notes of fresh pine take the lead, followed by gooseberry, tangerine and lime juice.
Body: Full-bodied, juicy and smooth, soft carbonation
Aftertaste: Resinous hop notes, lingering pine and grapefruit zest

A remnant of this year's MBCC, canned in late April so two and a half months old; typical hazy Cloudwater IPA celebrating the famed New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hop variety. Thin, irregular, sparsely lacing, open, egg-white head quickly reduced to a ring of bubbles on a cloudy, even milky peach coloured beer, ochre-ish with deep 'dirty' orangey hue. Luscious nose reveals the typical 'crushed ripe gooseberry' effect associated with Nelson Sauvin, next to impressions of freshly grated ginger, overripe mango, papaja, soggy biscuit cake, stale lime juice, gin, green peppercorns, clay, withering dill, sweet cicely, baby's fruit purée, diesel, rotting shallot. Utterly fruity onset, tropical and lush, stale lime juice, mango purée, ripe peaches, rambutan, sweet with a light sourish edge; carbonation is stingy but in a 'refined' way, full and very fluffy, bit creamy body. Soggy biscuity and cookie-like malt softness gets completely soaked in luscious Nelson Sauvin fruitiness, with again that sweet ripe gooseberry effect as well as the peaches, mango and rambutan returning, along with a lovely, edgy zestiness reminiscent of lime juice - albeit in a subtle way. Bread-crumb-like and very clearly hoppy 'powderiness' coats the back of the mouth, leaving a peppery note behind that some would describe as a 'hop burn' - but gently so. Still this effect does get highlighted in the very end, when a slightly wry, gin-like alcohol effect appears, and takes over the finish. Tad too boozy perhaps, not the single most elegant Cloudwater IPA I had so far, but still very much Cloudwater in all respects, with dankness, tropical fruitiness and zestiness galore, all soaked up in a very full and fluffy 'biscuitiness'. Each sip invites to have another one, and isn't that what we are looking for in a good beer?

Can @Mad for Beer (Rome). Dorata, torbida, schiuma bianco-sporca media.
