Beer and bread have a lot of ingredients in common, but we decided to go one step further and use actual loaves in this hoppy, malty little number. One fifth of the grain bill of Afterloaf comes from Da Bara Bakery's artisan bread and it contributes a lovely malty character which is complimented by the use of Amble, Chocolate and Rye grains on top of a Pale malt base.

440ml can as part of a delivery from the brewery. Drunk at home. Light reddish brown and clear with a small and quickly dissipating off-white/beige head. Spicy, tannic aroma with big bready notes threaded through. Taste is fairly bitter with the spicy malty notes doing little to appease the bitter hop. Astringent finish. Thin body, medium carbonation. While I could take or leave this one on merit, itโs nice to try different takes on the IPA.

440ml can from Bellini's Deli Kitchen (Bude, Cornwall): BB 8th September 2022. Drank in my back garden on 7th June 2022. Hazy amber, off-white head. Malty with a slight Rye leaning (Rye is one of the five grains used), other stuff is in attendance, including hops. It's OK, but not as 'Bready' as I'd hoped.

Can from the GoodH brewery online shop. Hazy amber /brown pour with a light beige head. Grapefruit, lemon zest, white bread,bit of sulphur in the nose. Taste is dried fruit, walnut, grapefruit, lemongrass, bitter hops. Long bitter finish.

Can from the brewery. Appearance - amber/brown/red. Slightly off-white big fluffy head. Nose - cake mixture, dry orange or red fruits. Yeasty. Taste - sourdough, light rye. Not a huge amount coming through on the hops side, possibly some citrus. Palate - creamy in texture. Dry, sour, tangy yeasty edge to it. Overall - interesting.
