Amber / Red Ale - Irish Regular
Score
6.66
ABV: 5.0% IBU: - Ticks: 3
Crisp and fruity with a hoppy finish.

Third Circle Red has a berry, hoppy freshness with a toasty, malt backbone. Our red does not fit easily into any historical style but is more an amalgam of influences: Special Bitters; Irish Reds and American Ambers. Its aroma of citrus and red berries comes from the Summit and Bramling Cross hops, while its assertive bitterness is balanced with the sweetness of caramel malts.

Ingredients: Pale ale malt, medium and dark crystal, Summit, Bramling Cross, American Ale yeast.

Bottle at home. I find Irish Red Ales to be quite boring but no better session beer out there. This iteration is creamier than most and stretching the boundary of hop acceptability in what is supposed to be a malt bomb. Nice and added points for inventiveness

Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [180616]
Dark amber, hazy, frothy off white head
Aroma of red fruits, hint of strawberry, slight floral notes, sweet fruits
Taste of red berry fruits, some bitter orange, hedgerow fruits, touch of strawberry, bitter zest hops
Palate - Medium carb, bit over fizzy, medium body, frothy mouthfeel. More bitter than sweet, creamy texture. Finish is a bit dry, more bitter hops come through as a wave in the finish, much more bitter in the tail
Overall - Fruity Irish red, more hoppy in the finish, stronger flavour than usual for the style
