McEwan’s IPA can trace its heritage back to the 1860s ale that was made for the 18,000 mile journey to India. After being unpacked it was dispatched inland to provide relief for workers toiling beneath the unforgiving sub-continental sun. It tasted so good it’s a wonder each barrel reached its destination.

Over 150 years later, our expert brewers have been inspired to produce a classic full-bodied, hoppy ale that delivers a citrus fruit aroma and a dry, refreshing finish. It’s a taste that will stand the test of time.

On tap @ The Dublin, Copen. A clear ish deep amber looking one, a nice medium sized beige lacing head. Sweet thin caramel aroma, some fruity elements. Quite mild I would definitely say. Really needed a beer now, so I guess anything would be just fine, but it's not bad tasting. A thin light oily feeling in the mouth and a high carbonation level. Soft fruity, some strawberries and then caramel. No IPA at all, but it did the job just fine cause thirsty as heck I am. 01.05.2014

Rated from old notes. Starts off like a light British bitter, sweetens inexorably, until halfway through you feel like your drinking a flat soda with strong caramel notes. Unpleasant. Avoid this mess.

Golden, minimal head, nose of grains. Light to medium body. Bittersweet taste, the hops is present. Malty ending. I’ve had better a lot of Brittish beers.

Cask at the Castle, Bedford. Light to mid-gold. Perfectly clear with a wonderful little white head. I think I’m going to enjoy it until I smell it. Ugh. Light floral hop overcome by rubber and plastic. The taste is odd but supplies me with one of the most unusual flavour rhymes in all of beer tasting: mastic and plastic. Artificial. This is what robots drink. Nice gentle mouthfeel for what it’s worth. Delivered to the wrong universe; humans don’t willingly drink this.

GBBF Day 4. Cask. The great Harrisoni/madmitch76 walkabout. Almost clear gold beer, good bubbly white head. Light palate with fine carbonation. Light pale malts, touch of floralness. No hops. Rubbish!
