Unusual name, unusual beer! The “Waggle Dance” is the movement a bee performs to alert the hive to a source of nectar. The Waggle Dance beer is a beautifully balanced, sneakily seductive, golden coloured beer. it is popular both as a cask ale (Alc. 4.0% Vol.) and in 500ml bottle (Alc. 5.0% Vol.) across a wide range of beer lovers both male and female and of all (legal) drinking ages.

A striking pump clip and bottle label designs ensure high awareness to Waggle Dance amongst drinkers in both the On- and Off-Trade

“Amber beer with a touch of honey on the nose and palate. The sweetness is balanced by a healthy dose of hops to provide the bitterness that gives a wonderfully delicate flavour.”

Pale Ale and Crystal malts and British Fuggle and Golding hops, together with South American honey, combine perfectly to create this delicious golden ale with a superb honey aroma.

Bottled(500ml). -Dark golden coloured, medium sized white head, quite odd and dry honeyish nose. Sweet malty, light hoppy herbal and surprisingly pleasant honey taste with notes of green apples in the finish. A bit unbalanced beer but also underrated.

500ml bottle from Tescos, Andover. Golden amber with a thin white head; aroma has honey and pelleted hops; fizzy in the mouth with a syrupy malty sweetness and perhaps a hint of honey; a touch of bitterness to the finish, but it also leaves a rather sticky feeling in the mouth - I need a beer to wash it away!

[Cask at Nut & Squirrel, Milton Keynes] Gold with a moderate lasting white head. An obvious initial aroma and taste of pure set honey tries but fails to disguise what is otherwise a very bland, watery, low-grade golden ale. Very disappointing for a beer which originally came from the Youngs side of the merger - did they change it to a Wells beer to avoid tainting the perceived higher quality of the Wells brand? Or is it just that it used to be good and Wells have mucked it up...?

Bottle, 5.0%. Weak aroma. Clear dark golden colour, small white head. The flavour is a bit sweet, but quite well-balanced. Finishes with a hint of grain, but still quite good.

Bottled (from Sainsburys). Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is grass, hay and some slight honeyish notes. Flavour is honey, grass and hops along with some sliught bready maltyness. Pleasant.

Cask at Tennent’s Bar, Glasgow. Deep golden. Sweet with soothing honey flavour. Quite malty with notes of grain, low on hops. Excessive sweetness gets in my way, and it’s not very complex. Still a decent beer.

Cask. Dark golden colour, mediumsized beige head, lots of lacing. Aroma is honey, sweet fruits, some berries and balancing grassy hops. Flavour is very much the same, but has some very nectary notes. Also some wooden hints. Very nice casked!

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with an off-white head; light aroma, possibly with some honey; bitter to start, but with some honeyed sweetness developing; leading to a slightly sour finish. I prefered this to the bottle version.
