Named after the Dorset Horn ram that lived in the brewery stables in Wandsworth, and on which the Young’s trademark is based – a proven symbol of Young’s brewing heritage and a firm favourite with drinkers for over 30 years.

Spoons Fest! Clear amber beer with a rapidly shrinking suddy head. Semi dry palate, a little smooth. Dry malt and a little nuts. Fairly bitter and somewhat spicy hops. Trace of burned orange. Grapefruit. Semi dry finish. Alright.

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, light malty. Toasted malt base, light citrusy hoppy - vague grassy. Fruity and citric to bitter into a dry yet crisp hoppy finish.

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. Amber gold with a ring of white head; aroma of damp straw; lightly bodied with a grainy taste and texture and a honeyed sweetness, but also undertones of stewed vegetables that are rather unsettling; the finish is sticky, dry and warming.

Bottle at The New Wheatsheaf, Borough. Given it a good 30 mins to open up. Mid brown lasting beige head. Spicy aroma. Some malt, some hop, soe yeast all on aroma. Bit of pukie malt in mouth but the spicy hop finish is decent enough. Good hop sting. Bit of syrup for a 5% beer. Thought it was stronger. Had to decant it to get rid of some of the bottled gas. Some fresh raisin. OK.

Unlear medium orange amber color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, oxidide malt, old celler, cardboard. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090802]
