It's been a few decades since a Colossal Claude sighting has been reported, but we're fairly certain the massive sea monster has been laying low off the coast of his favorite brewery. Word has it that after years of terrifying sailors and feasting on salmon he acquired a taste for hops. So we brewed this Imperial IPA with a colossal dose of Cascade, Chinook, Citro and Strata hops in hope of coaxing Claude out to join us for a pint.
Ingredients: Superior Pills, 2-Row, Wheat, Oats, C-15, Cascade, Chinook, Belma™, Eureka, Strata™, Imperial Juice yeast

An impressive massive DIPA. Heaps of pine with some grapefruit, bread and honey. The palate is creamy and a little sudsy, with a strong pine and grapefruit finish. I'm numb by the time I get halfway through.

12 ounce can. Hazy orange gold color. Frothy beige head. Stringy lacing. Dank, resiny notes of pine and citrus in the assertive nose. Flavor is sweet toasted bread, candied lemon peel, lime, mint and pine. A touch of caramel and stewed stone fruits. A bit of pine and pepper in the finish.

Fraaie artwork op het blikkie. Levert geen punten op, maar het zorgt er wel voor dat ie in m'n mandje beland. Harsige hop, lekker bitter, wat mout in de smaak. Weinig mis mee, maar kon wat verser denk ik.

Extra huge can. (1pt 3.2 oz) Pours a copper color with moderate head. Aromas of doughy malts and toffee. Flavors follow same with a little bitter citrus and resin. Tea on the finish. Canned Dec 2020 so maybe the hops have dulled. Nice enough though.

Can at home. Clear yellow golden color, medium sized white head. Aroma is -initially- quite weak, don't get much. Flavor is malts, citrusy and piney hoppiness. A weird piney hop flavor though. I don't know what it is, it seems to lack a little bitterness and body. Still pretty useful though.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Canned 3/10/21. Pours translucent amber gold with a decent foamy white head. Mixed fruit aroma. Berries and tropicals. Med body or better. Lightly roasty malt. Flavor is mixed berries - like gooseberry, white grapes - and light uncommon citrus. Gets a bit earthy in the finish.Towards dry. Nicely bitter, tho a bit maltier than I commonly enjoy. Nice drink.

Pours a clear, copper-gold, with mid-sized head. Aroma has some bread, some hops, a touch of citrus. Flavor is bready, with citrus and pine hops in the finish. A good West Coast style DIPA.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver, 568ml, 2020-12-31, 3.5 months old
Dark blonde to golden colour, hazy; the head has short retention. The hops seem to be more fruity than the average PNW piney mix, there is citrus, citrus peel, some stone fruit, all of this more evident in the flavour than the aroma; it's just mildly sweet, with a nice malt base that doesn't overwhelm the hops; respectable bitterness, and just a bit of alcohol burn.
Not very fresh (3.5 months old now), but very enjoyable modern West Coast IPA, this for sure was very good when fresh.

500ml can from Albertsons. Dark gold, hazy, solid cap of tight head. Light citrus hoppy aroma. Taste brings a blend of citrus and dank, herbal notes, earthy. Not too strong, but leaves kind of a medicinal aftertaste.
