A blend of Rum barrel aged and Bourbon barrel aged ales.
The captain of the ship knew the moment he sailed into the Fog of Death what was next. Legend decreed that out of nowhere, the stench of the Reaper would arrive with his chess board in hand. And a Dead Man's Game would be waged for the souls on the ship.
If the captain availed himself and triumphed over death, the ship would sail on, reaping the rewards of gold and riches. Should death prevail, the ship and souls would vanish in the damp night air forevermore. Many played the Dead Man's Game, but no ship ever sailed out of the Fog of Death.. until this night.

Bottle.

A- Dark mahogany color, dark liquid, minimal head.

A- Marzipan, cherry, slightly sweet, faint wood.

F- Funk, oak, cherry, malt, cola.

T- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish.

O- A little let down honestly. A fairly rich flavor but a bit sweet and too boozy.

Slightly murky brownish, some light tan head. Smells woody, rummy, some dried fruit. Body is surprisingly light, only a tiny bit of boozyness. Taste has good balance between maltyness, bit of licoricy stout maybe?, rum barrel, wood, bourbon. Nice stuff.

(375ml bottle @ Erik's tasting, Stockholm, July 13/19) Dark brown cola pour with a tan head. Notes of brown sugar, dark rye bread, dark fruit, caramel, toasted malt, drying oak, mineral, a bit of alcohol warmth. Touch thin in body with average carb. A solid strong ale with the barrels, for me, being less dominant than expected and allowing more malt to shine through.

Cork-top bottle, 0.375l. Aroma of bourbon, dried fruit, berries, caramell, wood and cocoa. Pours cloudy dark brown color with totally diminishing light brown head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with sweet chocolate and licorice, follows dried fruity, peaty, woody and bourbon-like, mouthfeel is smooth and warm, while finish is very mild bitter. Full body, syrupy texture and average carbonation in palate. Not a game at all...

I'm usually a fan of Lost Abbey Belgian beers but not so much this one. Too heavy and too much barrel. Syrupy texture is thick. Pours dark brown without much head and lacing. Tobacco, bourbon, figs, wood and caramel. More like a barley wine really. Very sweet boozy finish. Tap at Churchkey.
