Kristallweizen from Baden-Württemberg, thanks tderoeck for sharing. Small-bubbled, medium, snow white, opening head (far from the rocky, pillowy heads I expect from any Weizen) over an evidently clear, pale yellow-golden robe. Aroma of banana candy in a 'dryish' kind of way, shortbread, field flowers, chamomile, spring water, bubblegum, hints of clove, vanilla and soggy white bread. Cleanish onset, pronounced isoamylacetate with banana, pineapple and chewing gum effects - but nothing one would not expect in this genre; clean and 'pure' mouthfeel, slick wheatiness with a dash of sweetish white bread, minerally carbonated, sweetish and smooth, adding subtle hints of clove-like phenols and chamomile-like floral hops in the end, the latter providing only the most minimal bitterness - but again, as one tends to expect from a Weizen. Smooth, sweetish and simple but balanced example of a filtered Weissbier - a style one should not expect much complexity from, at least not in comparison with the unfiltered blonde Hefeweizens it is derived from. That said, it feels just a bit too sweet and straightforward even for a Kristallweizen...
