Steadfast is a barrel-blended imperial stout. A thoughtful blending session found the best expression of this beer: a blend of 42% barrel-aged chocolate stout blended with 58% fresh stout.
The blend was then conditioned upon heaps of cacao and a kiss of house-roasted coffee.
The finished beer has an incredible depth of complexity featuring notes of chocolate-covered bourbon candies, chewy chocolate caramel, and Oaky vanilla cream.

Bottle. Pours inky black, small dark brown head, good lacing. Aroma is huge chocolate, hints of espresso and bourbon. Flavor is merlin plus sweet, medium bitter, mega cocoa. Full body.

Aroma is malted chocolate, light coconut and coffee. Taste is creamy, not overly sweet, nice balance of flavors.

Bottle shared with Joes. Opaque pitch black color, average sized light brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, chocolate, caramel-ish, sweetish notes, a bit boozy, cocos notes. Too much? Still good but not really my kind of RIS I guess. Solid nonetheless.

Bottle (undated, but fresh and drunk within a few weeks of purchase) on 6/9/21.
Ebony, clarity untested. Tan head to ring.
Coffee is strong in the nose (but not too strong) as vanilla and a moderately bitter chocolate unfold. Seems very mild and soft, surprisingly with little/no barrel character. Almost get a smores like character from the malt, cacao, vanilla interaction. Surprisingly no alcohol noted.
Sweet, of course, but not too much so with a good roast presence balanced by plentiful fudge and milk chocolate. Good acidity throughout with tannin apparent and drying out the palate heavily leading to borderline astringency on the finish (though the deep maltiness and rich, marshamallow-like sweetness doesn't allow it to be problematic). Soft, silky body with tight, low carbonation. Excellent stuff. My favorite stout from them in a while and not dominated by lactose as so many are (not just Tree House, but every brewery) lately.
