West coast-ish double IPA

Here's a big double IPA for you - dry hopped with a fat stack of Galaxy, El Dorado, and Columbus. Crispy, a touch of bitterness, and modern hoppiness. It's pretty neat.

Has a bit of haze and a sort of golden colour. Medium head. The aroma is actually a bit nondescript for having such big, happy hops in it. On the palate, leads with malt sweetness. Low apparent bitterness. The hops present as slightly overripe fruit and a bit of sulphury weed. Hops I like, and they’re not bad, but it feels to me like this should be better because it’s a bunch of hops I like. I guess that’s the structure thing – don’t sleep on composition and structure. Beere has the talent to make this better.

Can, courtesy of Riley
Darker shade of blond, slightly hazy. The aroma presents some nice piney hops, but too timid. The mouthfeel is rather dry, it seems lighter than the ABC would suggest; non-descriptive malt base; balanced bitterness, but the hops have little to offer, maybe some bitter citrus oil, some resin.
Clean, but not bright.

Good clear gold body with some modest foam. Aroma of chewy pine, clean but thick, nothing else. Taste is okay bitter pine, licorice, soft dankness throughout. Ends full and smooth. A clean, drinkable big IPA.

Poured from the tap. Clear gold with small white head. Mellow melon and pine hops. Not bad.

473mL can, pours a clear dull golden with a medium white head. Nose is very laid back for a IIPA, with gentle piney hops, a touch of melon, and biscuity malt on the back side. Flavour is more forceful, with bitter piney hops upfront, followed by a touch of melon, a little citrus zest, and crisp biscuity malt. Quite bitter on the finish, with gentle citrus fruitiness. The bitterness level is good, but the hops just aren't that vibrant. Finishes a bit earthy and somewhat dull despite the fact that this was canned 3 days ago! Disappointing, but not bad overall.
