Opaque dark ruby brown colour, good creamy tan head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malt, strong coffee, light vanilla. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, coffee, light chocolate, earthy. Roasty sweetbitter aftertaste, coffee and chocolate linger on. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, round, rich and well-balanced, excellent.

12 oz can at home bought from Beer Republic. No obvious BB date. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of coffee, lactose, light vanilla, earthy, bit nutty. very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of ash, coffee, earthy, some lactose, hints of vanilla. finishes rather roasty bitter with notes of ash, coffee and earthy notes. very nice one, rather on the roasty bitter side (so not a sugar bomb like all the new stuff), good one

Draught at Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City. Sweet roasted coffee pevades the aroma. Deep brown with brown head. Moderately-thin mouthfeel for this ABV and a stout. Flavor is restrained coffee in a well-balanced beer that really hides the alcohol and feels like a 6%er.

Super deep dark brown coloured body with an oily off-white head on top, that starts out at about three centimetres and fades to a single centimetre. Aroma of coffee, earth, nuts, a ton of caramelised sugars, a dose of burnt grain and a little touch of alcohol noticeable near the end. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong lactose and creamy notes at first with a big hit of vanilla noticeable, along with a ton of burnt coffees, some caramelised sugar and toffee with a dose of nuts and earth and ending with a light sweetness and some softer cherry and almost fruitier sweetness. Aftertaste shows a good balance of roasted malts, nuts and a light sweetness from caramel and vanilla. Overall, a very nice and super balanced stout that shows some imperial sides, but the coffee, lactose and caramel notes are by far the strongest, all in a good way. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-November-2018 for US$1,99 sampled at my house in Washington when it was actually snowing on 12-January-2019.
