After three months and 37 different experiments, this stout has what we consider to be the perfect ratio of peanut butter, lactose and biscuit. A hit of roasted peanut on the nose, followed by a sweet Crunch as it goes down.

Can, 0.33l. Aroma of peanuts, roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Pours almost black color with creamy light brown head. Taste starts with medium sweet roasted malt, peanuts and milk chocolate, following is nutty and slightly dried fruity, mouthfeel is warm, while finish is mild bitter. Medium body, creamy texture and lively carbonation in palate. Not crunchy, but still better than Snickersโ€ฆ

Keg at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Nutty nose of chocolate, digestive biscuit, caramel, nutty toffee. Taste is nutty toffee, milk chocolate, lots more digestive biscuit. More nutty than Madness in their heyday. Good stuff.

On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe โ€“ as Hammerton Crunch. Pours black with a small cream head. Has a buttery aroma with roasted malts in the background. Similarly a buttery, creamy texture in the mouth, with flavours of liquorice, dark fruits and peanuts. Some lactose comes through at the end to give it sweetness. Nice enough and the peanut butter not too overwhwlming.
